About

In 2007, I joined the ranks of those who care for an aging parent, trying to balance work and life as a dementia caregiver to my wonderful mom.

I hope to use this blog not only as a therapeutic tool for me to express my feelings, concerns, frustrations and just everyday musings, but also as an open dialog with others who are going through the same thing as myself. Hopefully, we can all help each other.

Postscript: At 89 1/2, my dear and wonderful mother sadly passed away on Feb.10, 2012. I continue to write this blog, but now in a different voice as I work through the grief, loss and healing process.

  1. I lost my mom just one week earlier than you did. She did everything she could to make it as easy as possible for us, even telling us to “eulogize” her with Chocolate Thunder From Down Under at Outback, and that’s exactly what we did. Not everyone will answer your posts, but do be aware that people understand your feelings.

  2. Thank you for your comment, and sorry for your loss. I know my feelings are not unique only to me and are quite universal, but it is comforting to get responses from others going through the same thing.

  3. I’m so very sorry for your loss. I hate that there are so many of us in this particular “Club,” but it is nice to know that we’re not going through it alone. I look forward to your insights.

  4. Thanks, Loni. It’s very comforting knowing that others out there understand we we are all coming from. My mom lived a good, long life but I wanted her around longer. I’m sorry that yours was cut so short.
